Melbourne, Australia

Entrepreneur. Dad. Builder of useful things.

I’m Matt Rollins, a Melbourne-based technology founder. I run a managed IT provider and build businesses that help Australian organisations get more out of their technology, and lose a lot less time and money to it.

Technology should either cut your costs or make your people faster. If it does neither, it’s decoration. Every venture I build starts from that.

Right now

What I’m focused on

Three things get most of my attention at the moment.

Running TechAssist

Leading the team and service strategy for a managed IT provider that keeps Melbourne businesses running, and takes cost and friction out of how they work.

Building TeachingBlox

Developing an AI-assisted learning platform for students aged 8 to 16, built around clear pathways, useful feedback and real progress.

Raising the security floor

Helping organisations work through the Essential Eight without pretending it is a box-ticking exercise or a one-off project.

The why

Why I build what I build

Most of my ventures started because I watched something be harder and more expensive than it needed to be. A business paying for IT that created more work than it removed. An organisation told its security posture was fine when nobody had actually checked. A kid switching off from learning because the pace didn’t suit them.

Being a dad sharpened that last one considerably. Watching your own children learn makes you impatient with systems that treat every student the same, and it’s a large part of why TeachingBlox exists. Family is also the reason I care about building businesses that are steady rather than spectacular. Reliable beats impressive.

Writing

Recent notes

Practical writing on managed IT, cybersecurity, productivity and where AI genuinely helps.

Let’s talk

Partnership, advisory work, a question about one of the businesses, or just a decent conversation about technology. I read everything that comes in and reply within a couple of days.
